Meant to illustrate one of the main components (soda/pop) that contain extreme amounts of artificial sugar (esp. in America) and contributes to a list of growing health concerns around the world. The distribution of this unnatural substance is directly related to the increased amount of people suffering from heart disease, diabetes, obesity and a number of other health issues around the globe. In addition, companies in the food industry are given exclusive/legal rights over naturally grown plant (coca leaf) substances that have been used by indigenous people for centuries, resulting in monopoly based business ethics. Making it more difficult to obtain clean drinking water in certain countries than a substance that contains more sugar in one bottle/can than the human body should ever be forced to ingest.
3 piece set/ mixed media on canvas - 24'' x 60'' (Acrylic paint, illustration board, gold, silver, and bronze foil) Short film for series found here.
Using the popular image of the 'emergency broadcast system' that appears on televisions during interruptions, the topic of bias and propaganda directed media outlets are visually discussed. With two pieces showcasing the possibility of one-sided news (pro or anti) and a third piece that represents the outlets that actually promote unity, peace, and understanding. With the assistance of symbols and languages to aid the viewer to detect which piece within the series represents what side, the conversation of media being used as a tool to sway the opinion of the general public can hopefully begin. A connection is also made in correlation with the Olympic medals in regards to the level of importance that America views the three different viewports of media as it fits within the US agenda.
5 Platonic Solids
5 piece set/ Mixed media on canvas - 30'' x 30'' (Acrylic paint, illustration board, gold foil)- Short film for paintings here.
In three-dimensional space, the 5 Platonic solids are regular, convex polyhedron that are named after the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. Not only are they connected to the classic elements (Fire, Air, Earth, Water) but they are also found throughout every element within the Periodic Table. This knowledge allows one to feel connected to every living entity on this planet but also with the known universe as a whole. The fact that we share the smallest parts of our biological system with stars millions of light years away will hopefully bring confidence that anything is possible.

The city of Chicago is historically known for it’s architecture, educational institutions, international meeting place for business, corrupt political leaders (followed by the highest taxation in the country), the largest gentrification process in American history and segregation unlike any other major US city. What the outside looking in is given more than anything else, however, is a small and forgotten area of the city being represented by gun violence/ gang activity with the actual cause behind these ‘side effects’ designed to fade into the back. While the gentrification process in Chicago being the largest in American history, with 90% of those effected being people of color, displacing over 40,000 individuals and families out of their generational home and root/ support system. 4 piece set/ mixed media on canvas - 36’’ x 36’’
(Acrylic paint, illustration board, gold foil) -
Paying homage to the late great Robert Indiana, this set of work adopts the concept of “LOVE” in the 21 century in connection to the holy union known as marriage. With each canvas representing a different reason for this act outside of the traditional justification for such an event'; to showcase the unification of two people based on love. The various languages act as not only a point of reference for multiple cultures but as a statement that no matter your background, this act can have many different goals and objectives. Individually, the paintings contain iconic wedding symbols and imagery that are synonymous with the visual field of such a celebration on this special day. Not at all to be confused with any negative connotation with the concept of marriage, but to simply speak on the topic with a different perspective that could help those that can relate a sense of normality.
